Persian Carpets of the 20th Century, published through the cooperation of the Persian Carpet Association in Japan
This survey of the evolution of modern Persian carpets is written by Kenichi Kawasaki, the leading authority in Japan on Persian carpets, and Yasuo Manabe, and published by K&M Product Planning Center.
The preparation of the book was enabled by extensive cooperation from the Persian Carpet Association in Japan. Each of the 100 carpets in the book is an antique owned by a member of the association.
These gems of culture and craft clearly stand out from the flow throughout history of ordinary goods which are consumed and disappear, and we are indebted to everyone in the Association for the roles they have played in the preservation of these masterpieces in our time.
The book took about a year and a half from conception to publication. No other book has delved systematically into the formation and evolution of Persian carpets in the 20th century, neither in the home country, Iran, nor anywhere else. This will thus be an indispensable work both for lovers of Persian carpets and for the many professionals involved in the carpet trade.
We hope you enjoy this opportunity to come in touch with masterpieces of the Persian carpet tradition, and to journey through their modern history.
